Here is information about me and my practice for those seeking services as well as for current clients. I have provided psychological services in Raleigh, NC since 1975. Please click on the sidebar or top menu listings for details about your particular interests.
Getting Started
I encourage you to review the information on this web site but I will also be glad to address your questions by phone if you prefer to start with a call. You are welcome to schedule an initial consultation session (for which standard fees are charged) if you would like to meet in person. I do not advise using E-mail initially because 1) there is a chance that spam-blockers will filter messages from unknown correspondents, and 2) confidentiality cannot be assured; I find E-mail most useful for brief communications with current clients, such as scheduling appointments. My office phone number is (919) 677-8700. My part-time assistant or I answer it occasionally but often you will need to leave a message on the voice mail, which I will typically return within one to two business days. Please click on Getting Started or Forms & Policies for more information on becoming a client at Reid Whiteside, Ph.D., P.C.

Clinical Practice
When indicated I am glad to work collaboratively with other therapists and alternative health care providers. At all times I am aware of the trust, time, and money invested by clients who come to me seeking relief from distress or to make changes in their lives – often when a relationship, success in school or job, or emotional well-being are at stake. The psychotherapeutic relationship involves commitment and accountability on both sides of the endeavor; the Psychologist-Client Services contract and HIPAA Confidentiality Disclosure, and my resume should be read carefully before beginning treatment. I take my professional responsibilities seriously and consult as needed with other professionals. One of the most valuable resources to me in my work with children and all academic-performance issues is my participation in the Triangle Child and Adolescent Resources specialists' peer-consultation group (http://www.TrianglePsychology.com). The members of this group are all very experienced, independently licensed professionals specializing in a variety of services to children, teens, and college students.
